To improve the quality of life in Phillips County, the Foundation built a $4.2 million, 31,000 square foot Wellness Center. It was completed and dedicated in 2006. The Wellness Center is located in Helena-West Helena, Arkansas. The Helena Health Foundation owns the facility. It is leased to the UAMS East under a long-term lease agreement for health, wellness, and fitness programs to be administered in Phillips County and surrounding counties.
The Wellness Center houses the offices of the Helena Health Foundation, UAMS East, a health information research library, diabetes education clinic, classrooms, a 100-seat auditorium, and a state-of-the-art fitness center indoor walking track.
In 2009, an outdoor walking track was added to the complex, including a one-half mile track, exercise stations, a pavilion, and a children’s playground. Access to the outdoor walking track is free for all Phillips County residents.
